               Words Against The Lord

                                by Clennie C. Johns, Jr.

Preached 02/22/72 at Salem  in Kentucky

Intro.  Many speak words against the Lord.  We should not speak against Him at any time.  Our words should always be consistent.  Illustration: A judge asked a woman her age.  "Thirty," she replied.  "You have given that age for the last three years in this court" the judge said.  "Yes, I'm not one of those who says one thing today and another thing tomorrow."  Our words should be truthful and consistently for the Lord.  True facts might make us have  to change our words to conform to that rule.

I. SOME SPEAK AGAINST GOD'S EXISTENCE.  It's like "Show me your God and I'll
believe" Vs. "Show me your brains and I'll believe you have some."
   1. They say  the idea of God is only a fable.
   2. Ingersoll- Never saw one.
Kruschev- Cosmonaults didn't any God or angels.
No one has seen electricity, pain, nor sorrow yet they exist.
   3. Such are called fools.  Psa. 14:21- "The fool hath said in his heart 'there is no
       God..."
   4. Even the heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament showeth his
       handiwork.  Psalm 19:1.
   5. Man creates a god when he doesn't know the true and living one.  Humanity
everywhere testifies ot the need for God.

    2. Gen. 1:1- The only logical explanation.

III. SOME SPEAK AGAINST GOD'S WORD.
      1. They deny that the Bible is God's inspired message.  In other words, if there
is a God, Bible is reasonable way of communication.
      2. Bible is Inspired.  2 Timi 3:16-1 and 2 Peter 1:21.
For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man; but holy men
spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
          a. Words by Spirit - 1 Cor. 2:13.
      3. It is easy to prove that the Bible is true.

     3. He was the only begotten Son of God.  John 1:14.
Begotten by the Spirit, and born of a virgin.  Matt. 1:18f.
     4. Dual nature of Christ.  Son of God and son of man.  He was qualified as the
mediator between God and man. 1 Tim. 2:5.  Equidistant between the two.

V. SOME UTTER WORDS AGAINST GOD'S ABILITY.
    1. God should receive credit for having made and for being able to control all
        things.
        a. When the whale cast Jonah onto dry land after he had spent 3 days in it's
belly, Jonah complained: "If you had kept your mouth shut, this thing
            wouldn't have happened."
    2. Some say man is unable to understand his word.  This relfects on God's
ability.  If we understand it at all, we understand it alike.
    3. It can be understood. Isa. 35:8.  The wayfaring men though fools shall not err
        therein.
John 8:32- "And ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make your free."

unto the knowledge of the truth."

      3. Infant guiltless.  Matt. 18:3. "..Except ye be converted and become as little
children ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven."

          is evil from his youth."

VIII. SOME SPEAK AGAINST GOD'S SINCERITY.
       1. They say God is behind all faiths and doctrine, and  that he approves all.
       2. If a man preaches one doctrine and then practices opposite--Hypocrite!
If God approves such--What?  I Cor. 14:33- "For God is not the author of
confusion but of peace.." as in all churches of the S.
